One of my aims this year is to actually read all the wonderful books I seem to collect! Quite often they sit on my bookshelf and as time invariably slips away from me, I only get to ‘dip’ into them! The Crafted Garden by Louise Curley is a beautifully written and photographed book, and I’ve made time to read (and re-read) it for some stylish inspiration for 2016!
Lousie Curley is a freelance writer and stylist with a passion for plants, whether they’re growing in her garden, on her allotment or in the countryside. She’s a great believer in the power of nature to transform our lives whether it’s a walk in a local wood, digging up home-grown potatoes or marvelling at a patch of wild flowers on the daily commute.
Review of The Crafted Garden
The Crafted Garden consists of 50 beautifully photographed projects inspired by the flowers, seeds, sprigs and twigs which Louise finds in her own garden and in the neighbouring hedgerows. There are plenty of simple and yet stunning ideas for botanical gifts and home décor. Louise has cleverly split her book into the four seasons, so as a reader you can easily find inspiration for the present, or delve into her book for some future planning!
Each craft activity not only has a “How To” section explaining how to make the project, but contains background information and useful snippets about the plants, flowers, leaves or seedpods which are used to create it. All the instructions are complimented throughout the book by gorgeous photos from Jason Ingram.
This book provides wonderful inspiration for flower and plant loving, green-fingered friends who love to try something new! The Crafted Garden is all about getting closer to natural items and using them to decorate our homes and brighten our lives.
Some of the projects could be used as decorations in your own home or to create items that could be given as very thoughtful and original gifts.
I hope you enjoy this gorgeous book as much as I did!
